Setting Up FreeGuard VPN with Shadowrocket

Shadowrocket is a lightweight, high-performance proxy client for iOS, priced at $2.99 on the App Store. It supports Clash subscription format natively, making it an excellent choice for iPhone and iPad users. This guide walks you through installing Shadowrocket and connecting it to your FreeGuard VPN subscription.

Download & Install

Shadowrocket is available exclusively on the iOS App Store:

1. Open the App Store on your iOS device.
2. Search for “Shadowrocket” or use the link above.
3. Purchase and download the app ($2.99).
4. Launch Shadowrocket after installation completes.

Important: Shadowrocket may not be available in all App Store regions. You may need an Apple ID registered in a supported region (e.g. US, Hong Kong, Japan) to purchase and download it.

Import Your Subscription

Once Shadowrocket is open, follow these steps to import your FreeGuard subscription:

1. On the home screen, tap the + button in the top-right corner.
2. Select Subscribe as the type.
3. Paste your FreeGuard subscription URL into the URL field.
4. Tap Done to save the subscription.
5. Tap on the subscription entry and select Update to fetch the latest server list.
6. Toggle the VPN switch at the top of the home screen to enable the connection.

Enable Proxy

After importing and updating your subscription:

1. Return to the Shadowrocket home screen.
2. Toggle the connection switch at the top to enable VPN.
3. iOS will prompt you to allow VPN configuration — tap Allow and authenticate with Face ID / Touch ID.

Shadowrocket routes all device traffic through the VPN tunnel automatically.

Select a Node

1. On the home screen, you will see the list of servers from your subscription.
2. Tap on any server to select it as the active node.
3. Tap Connectivity Test at the bottom to measure latency to all servers.
4. Pick the server with the lowest latency for the best performance.
5. Servers are organized by region for easy browsing.

Tip: Long-press a server to view detailed information including protocol, port, and encryption method.

Tips & Customization

• Global Routing: Switch between Config (rule-based), Proxy (all traffic), Direct (no proxy), and Scene modes under the routing options.
• On-Demand Connect: Enable “On Demand” in Settings to auto-connect VPN when you access the internet.
• Subscription Auto-Update: Tap the subscription entry and set auto-update interval to keep your node list current.
• Per-App Proxy: Configure specific apps to bypass or use the proxy in Settings > Per-App Proxy (requires TUN mode).
• Traffic Statistics: View real-time and historical traffic data in the Statistics tab.
