Setting Up FreeGuard VPN with Hiddify

Hiddify is a feature-rich, cross-platform proxy client powered by the sing-box core. It supports Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android with a clean interface and advanced capabilities including auto-configuration and multiple profile management. This guide walks you through installing Hiddify and connecting it to your FreeGuard VPN subscription.

Download & Install

Hiddify is available from its official website and GitHub:

  1. Visit the official website or GitHub releases page.
  2. Download the latest version for your platform.
  3. Install the app on your device.
  4. Launch Hiddify after installation completes.

Import Your Subscription

Once Hiddify is open, follow these steps to import your FreeGuard subscription:

  1. On the home screen, tap the + button.
  2. Select Add subscription link.
  3. Paste your FreeGuard subscription URL into the input field.
  4. Tap Save to add the subscription.
  5. Tap Refresh to fetch the latest server list.
  6. Select a node from the available servers.
  7. Tap the Enable proxy button to start the connection.

Where is my subscription URL? Check your email for the credentials FreeGuard sent after purchase, or visit the Clash Pricing page to subscribe.

Enable Proxy

After importing your subscription:

  1. On the home screen, tap the main connect button to enable the proxy.
  2. On first connection, your device will prompt you to grant VPN permission — tap Allow.
  3. The status indicator will show “Connected” when active.

Hiddify supports both system proxy and TUN mode depending on your platform.

Select a Node

  1. On the home screen, you will see the list of available servers.
  2. Tap on a server to select it as the active node.
  3. Use the built-in ping test to measure latency to each server.
  4. Pick the server with the lowest latency for the best performance.
  5. Servers are organized by region and protocol type.

Tip: Hiddify can auto-select the best server based on latency. Look for the “Auto” or “Smart” selection option.

Tips & Customization

  • Auto-Configuration: Hiddify can automatically detect and apply optimal settings for your network environment.
  • Multiple Profiles: Manage multiple subscription profiles and switch between them from the home screen.
  • Routing Rules: Configure split tunneling to route only specific traffic through the VPN.
  • DNS Settings: Customize DNS servers for better privacy and performance in the advanced settings.
  • Connection Modes: Switch between proxy modes (system proxy, TUN) based on your needs.
  • Theme: Supports light, dark, and system-adaptive themes.

Troubleshooting

Issue Solution
Subscription import fails Verify the URL is correct and your internet connection is active. Try pasting the URL again carefully.
Proxy fails to start Check if another VPN or proxy app is running. Close conflicting apps and retry.
No internet after enabling proxy Try switching to a different server node. Toggle proxy off/on.
Connection drops on Android Exclude Hiddify from battery optimization in device settings.
Slow speeds Run a ping test and switch to the lowest-latency server. Try servers in closer geographic regions.
App not detecting subscription format Ensure the subscription URL is a valid FreeGuard link. Try refreshing the subscription.
