Setting Up FreeGuard VPN with FlClash

FlClash is a modern, cross-platform Clash client built on the Clash.Meta core. It supports Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android with a clean, intuitive interface. This guide walks you through installing FlClash and connecting it to your FreeGuard VPN subscription.

Download & Install

FlClash is available from multiple sources depending on your platform:

1. Visit the appropriate link above for your platform.
2. Download the latest release for your operating system.
3. Run the installer (Windows/macOS/Linux) or install the APK (Android).
4. Launch FlClash after installation completes.

Import Your Subscription

Once FlClash is open, follow these steps to import your FreeGuard subscription:

1. On the main interface, tap or click the Profiles tab.
2. Tap the + button or Add Profile option.
3. Select URL as the type (remote subscription).
4. Paste your FreeGuard subscription URL into the URL field.
5. Give the profile a name, e.g. “FreeGuard VPN”.
6. Set Auto Update interval (recommended: every 24 hours) to keep your node list current.
7. Tap Save to add the profile.
8. Pull down or tap the refresh icon to fetch the latest server list.

Enable Proxy

FlClash offers two proxy modes:

System Proxy (Recommended for beginners)

Toggle System Proxy on the main interface. This routes browser and most app traffic through the VPN.

TUN Mode (Full device traffic)

Enable TUN Mode in Settings to capture all traffic at the network level, including apps that ignore system proxy settings.

TUN mode provides more complete coverage but may require elevated permissions on some platforms.

Select a Node

1. Navigate to the Proxies tab.
2. Select a proxy group (e.g. “Auto”, “Select”, or a region group).
3. Choose a specific server from the list.
4. Tap the speed test icon (lightning bolt) to measure latency to each server.
5. Pick the server with the lowest latency for the best performance.

Tip: The “Auto” group automatically selects the fastest available server based on periodic latency tests.

Platform-Specific Notes

Android

• On first connection, Android will prompt you to grant VPN permission — tap Allow.
• Battery optimization may interrupt background connections. Consider excluding FlClash from battery optimization in your device settings.

Windows

• TUN mode requires running FlClash as Administrator. Right-click the app and select “Run as administrator”, or enable auto-admin in FlClash settings.
• Windows Firewall may prompt you to allow FlClash network access — click Allow.

macOS

• TUN mode may require granting FlClash permission to install a system network extension in System Settings > Privacy & Security.

Linux

• TUN mode typically requires root privileges. Run with sudo or configure the appropriate capabilities.

Tips & Customization

• Theme: FlClash supports light and dark themes. Switch in Settings > Appearance.
• Traffic Statistics: Monitor real-time upload/download speeds and total data usage on the main dashboard.
• Rule Mode: Switch between Rule (smart routing), Global (all traffic proxied), and Direct (no proxy) modes at the top of the main interface.
• Log Viewer: Check the Logs tab for connection details when debugging issues.
