Multi-Device VPN — Protect All Your Devices With One Account

FreeGuard VPN supports simultaneous connections across Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and Linux (CLI only) with a single account. Each platform ships a native client with the same VPN core (mihomo on desktop, sing-box on mobile) and the same underlying anytls / hysteria2 / trojan protocols.

Why You Want VPN Protection on Every Device You Own

A typical household has many connected devices. A VPN on only one of them still leaves every other device exposed to ISPs, carriers, and network operators.

Modern digital life spans multiple devices. You might browse on your laptop, message on your phone, stream on your tablet, and occasionally use a desktop. Each device connects to the internet independently, and each one exposes your IP address and traffic to whoever runs the network.

A VPN on only one device leaves gaps. If you protect your laptop but not your phone, your mobile browsing, app traffic, and DNS queries remain visible. ISPs can still build a profile of your activity from the unprotected device.

FreeGuard’s single account can sign in and connect on every platform simultaneously, so every device you own is covered.

Platform Availability: An Honest Snapshot

Windows and Mac are direct DMG/EXE downloads (not on Microsoft Store or Mac App Store). Android is on Google Play. iOS is on the App Store. Linux is a CLI only — no GUI client today. There is no browser extension.

Windows: Tauri + mihomo desktop client. NSIS installer from freeguardvpn.com (not on the Microsoft Store). Supports anytls / hysteria2 / trojan, TUN-mode system routing, GeoIP region routing, system tray, auto-launch at boot. Per-app split tunneling is not implemented.

macOS: Tauri + mihomo desktop client, separate builds for Apple Silicon and Intel. DMG from freeguardvpn.com (not on the Mac App Store). Same routing and tray features as Windows. Not a native Swift app, does not use Apple’s Network Extension framework, does not integrate with Keychain.

Android: Native Kotlin/React Native app on Google Play, plus a direct APK for non-Play devices. Supports Android’s always-on VPN and a quick-settings tile. DNS resolver picker (Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, OpenDNS, AdGuard). Per-app split tunneling capability exists in the underlying VPN service but is not currently exposed in the app UI.

iOS: Native Swift app on the App Store, built on Apple’s Network Extension framework. Supports on-demand VPN rules. Siri Shortcuts and a polished Home Screen widget are not shipped yet.

Linux: The FreeGuard CLI only — a single Go binary. Install via our install script, Homebrew, or GitHub Releases. There is no Linux desktop GUI. If you want a GUI, use the Windows or Mac app.

Browser extensions: There is no first-party FreeGuard browser extension today.

What “Multi-Device” Actually Means Here

One account, sign in on any combination of the above platforms, all can stay connected at the same time within your plan’s device limit.

  • One FreeGuard account works everywhere the apps run.
  • You can keep your phone, laptop, and desktop connected at the same time; the exact device limit depends on your plan.
  • Each device has its own connection settings, so you can route your laptop through one region and your phone through another.

How to Get Started

  1. Step 1: Create a FreeGuard account (or sign in) on freeguardvpn.com
  2. Step 2: Install FreeGuard on each device: Windows / Mac DMG from the website, Android from Google Play or direct APK, iOS from the App Store, Linux via curl -fsSL https://downloadcli.freeguardvpn.com/cli/install.sh | sh
  3. Step 3: Sign in with the same account on each device and connect independently

Frequently Asked Questions

How many devices can I use on one FreeGuard account?

Multiple, up to your plan’s limit. Free and premium plans have different device limits — see the pricing page for the current numbers.

Do I need a separate app per device?

Yes. Each platform has its own native app (or the Linux CLI). You sign in with the same account on each.

Is the feature set identical across every platform?

No. The platforms share the same VPN protocols and account, but the UIs and platform-specific extras differ. For example, GeoIP region routing is only on the Tauri desktop apps; a quick-settings tile is only on Android; on-demand VPN rules are only on iOS; Linux is CLI only.

Does FreeGuard have a browser extension for Chrome or Firefox?

No. There is no first-party FreeGuard browser extension at this time.

Does FreeGuard offer a Smart DNS product?

No. DNS routing goes through the VPN tunnel when the app is connected. We do not operate a separate Smart DNS service for TVs or consoles.

Can I install FreeGuard on my router?

We do not publish a signed router firmware image or a one-click router installer. Advanced users can manually configure a compatible proxy/tunnel on their router using the same protocol details, but this is not an officially supported path.

Can each device connect to a different server region?

Yes. Each device logs in independently and chooses its own server/region.

What happens if I exceed my plan’s device limit?

The newest connection is rejected until you disconnect an existing device or upgrade your plan.
